Traian' bridge: built by Apollodor from Damasc (103 - 105), was ruined in III-rd century. It remained the feet vestiges from the both sides of Danube. |

Roman camp, having a right - angled form (125x139 m), it was foreseen with one gate with guard towers every sides. In the center of the precincts there was praetorium (commandant headquarters), where Traian Emperor had his headquarters in the winters of 105 - 106 years. |

Medieval fortress, built in more stages (XIII-XV centuries). The archeologists discovered here a right - angled internal precincts, with squared towers, and another tower, in the middle of the east side, built during Roman possession (end of XIII century - XIV century), an external precincts placed on three from the first precincts, with two semicircle bastions, built in the first half of XV century. It also keep the foundations of two churches (XIII - XIV centuries). The fortress was destroyed by Turks in 1524. |

Iron Gates Region Museum, founded in 1912, has history and natural science collections an aquarium with Danube specific fauna, and a Mehedinti pop art section. In the front part of museum, was built the Apollodor from Damasc statue. |

Tourist itineraries
1. Drobeta-Turnu Severin - Iron Gates 1 (Gura-Vaii) -Vodita Monastery - Orsova • Eselnita - Svinita -Cazanele Mari - Cazanele Mici.
Itinerary with access to Clisura Dunarii
Vodita Monastery (Drobeta Turnu-Severin), Sfanta Ana Monastery and the Catholic Church (both in Orsova), Tricule mediaeval entrechment (Svinita area), Cazanele Dunarii, Tabula Traiani (visible from the Yugoslav bank of the river). Accessible on the Danube or by road. The Iron Gates 1 Waterpower station (access permited to groups only), and its museum may be considered the major attractions of the area.
2. Drobeta Turnu-Severin - Baia de Arama - Ponoare -Prejna - Ciresu
Access to the mountain area of the county
The Sfintii Voievozi church (Baia de Arama), the Natural Bridge and the Lilac Forest (Ponoare), The church built by Tudor Vladimirescu (Prejna), The Topolnita Cave(Ciresu).
